Royal Mail stamps celebrate 50 years of Pink Floyd

When you send a postcard from the pier at your seaside resort this summer saying “Wish you were here”, it may well reach it’s recipient courtesy of Pink Floyd.

A new set of stamps is being issued by the Royal Mail to honour the contribution Pink Floyd have made to British music and culture over the past 50 years.Pink Floyd stamps

The ten stamps, featuring some of  Pink Floyd’s best known album covers, will mark 50 years since the group turned professional in 1966, and will include album covers such as The Piper at the Gates of Dawn, The Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You Were Here.

Some of the stamps will celebrate live performances by Pink Floyd, which broke new ground with extensive use of lights and film projections. The images will portray Pink Floyd’s psychedelic light shows and the staging of their The Wall album.

The stamp set can be pre-ordered from 26th May and will be on sale at post offices from 7th July. Framed CD MFR
